"Jack CAN the Beanstalk"
Once a upon a time in a land above the clouds there was a boy named Jack in search of more than just sights and sounds. In this magical land there was a giant with a castle filled with wonders galore. Among these wonders there was a golden meal, a meal so delicious no one would turn it down. Jack found himself so amazed by this delicious feast that he decided to bring the meal back to share with his family. As Jack made his escape towards the beanstalk he could hear the giant say, "Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum, I smell my delicious meal on the run". So as soon as Jack reached the ground he began in a scurry to chop the beanstalk down and cut the giant off at the chase. After Jack finished this unbelievable escape from the giant he presented his family the ingredients of a Golden Vegetable Stir Fry meal grinning from ear to ear and all over the house all you could hear was cheers.

"Caution. CANstruction Ahead"
The symbol of Norfolk, VA and fabled sea creature, the mermaid, welcomes visitors to CANstruction and the exhibitions ahead. Representing our heritage as a seaport and now the wave of construction transforming the city. While swimming within a sea of healthy vegetables for those in need, you perceive the mermaid’s underlying spirit as she points the way to a positive future.

"The Three Faces of Hunger; One Can"
The structure was conceived of as a single can inside of a triangle. The single can represents the idea that the solution to hunger starts with a single event, and mimics the CANstruction slogan. The single can will be a Campbell’s soup can which is representative of pop culture, and is meant to bring the plight of hunger to the forefront. The three walls (faces) represent a particular emotion related to the plight of being hungry. The black wall evokes despair, the red wall evokes hope, and the yellow wall represents happiness. The three faces represent the demographic of people in the United States who are the hungry; the young, working individuals, and the elderly.

"Deleting Hunger 1 Can @ a Time"
The U.S. is the wealthiest country in the world yet has one of the highest child poverty rates among industrialized nations. For many children, the lunch they receive at school is the only meal eaten that day. The food items selected for the design represent all of the major food groups found in the Food Pyramid needed by children for healthy living. The red cans represent the urgency of the issue and the laptop is a tool that can deliver the message of "Deleting Hunger." Our design encourages children to take action and demonstrates children CAN help children.

"Going Green with the Guggenheim"
We are designing the Guggenheim Museum. However, instead of the museum being white, we are using colors of green and alternating the rows of different colored vegetables creating a stacked tier effect that allows the viewer to distinguish each row that circles around the Guggenheim by the different type of vegetables.

"Tackling Hunger"
From the outside, the elegant brick facade of S. B. Ballard Stadium made out of macaroni and beef in tomato sauce cans heralds the age of Foreman Field, the site of Old Dominion University football. The newly built box suites look down upon the field from one end zone as video of previous plays beam down from the scoreboard across the stadium. Moving down the shiny, metallic refurbished bleachers onto the field of AstroTurf of thin spaghetti boxes, one can almost hear the whistles blowing, the helmets and pads colliding, and the screaming fans rooting to stop hunger in its tracks.

"Stop Hunger In Its Tracks"
Hunger is a big problem in our community and it can seem overwhelming at times. It may seem like a runaway train speeding out of control. But if we work together we can bring the problem to a halt and Stop Hunger In Its Tracks! Our team members enjoyed the challenge of building a rushing train coming out of a huge arched tunnel where the train was being brought to a halt. Of course, we realize that crossing gates are generally used to stop automobiles, but we like the visual effect of stopping the train instead!
