NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

The 22nd annual National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive will take place on May 10, 2014.
How can you help?
On May 10th, your local letter carrier will be doing more than dropping off your mail. Simply leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, like canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to your mailbox before the time of regular mail delivery. Your letter carrier will pick up your donation and it will be delivered to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia to support those in need in our community.

Spread the Word
You can do more than just donate food! By spreading the word, you can help increase the amount of much-needed food that will be collected. It's a quick and easy way for the whole community to get involved in fighting local hunger. Great American Milk Drive

Text “MILK” to 27722 to make a $5 donation that will be converted into a coupon for our customers to be able to get a half gallon or gallon size of white milk at any area retailer.
Donations can also be made online at www.milklife.com/give. From April 15 through May 25, the MilkLife organization will match every donation, which means a $5 donation provides 2 coupons instead of just 1!

Food banks across the Feeding American network, including ours, have the chance to earn $5,000 each week through the Outnumber Hunger code activation campaign in partnership with General Mills and the Big Machine Label Group.
By entering the codes found on select General Mills packaging, the food bank with the most codes entered each week will get $5,000…with a chance to earn $50,000 for the most codes activated during the 5 week timeframe! Codes may still be entered until January 31, 2015 and each code will unlock 5 meals for Feeding America food banks like ours when you add your zip code.

Toasted Marshmallow S'mores Galore™ Cheescake

The Cheesecake Factory will donate 20 cents per slice of their Toasted Marshmallow S'mores Galore™ Cheesecake to Feeding America. They will make a minimum contribution of $250,000 through this campaign. The Foodbank is a member of Feeding America and benefits from sales locally.

Feeding America is one of 10 charities chosen to pilot Charity Miles, a free iPhone/Android app that empowers people to earn money for charity while walking, running or biking. Participants choose one of the app’s featured charities and hit the streets. The app will track the participant’s distance and they’ll earn money for their charity. Bikers earn 10¢ per mile; walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile—all up to an initial $1,000,000 sponsorship pool.

Panera Bread, the Panera Bread Foundation and Feeding America are pleased to announce a strategic alliance that will be in place through December 31, 2013. This partnership builds on Panera Bread’s long history of donating its day-end bread and baked goods as well as proceeds from its Panera Cares Community Bread Box program (donation canisters at registers) to non-profits across the country, and has been forged so that Panera can better use its resources, scale and expertise to provide not only funds but also quality, nutritious food to Feeding America and its network of local food banks.
As such, Panera LLC will be donating, in partnership with its customers, 50% of the funds from its Panera Cares Community Breadboxes at more than 700 company-owned* Panera Bread bakery-cafes to support food sourcing operations at local Feeding America food banks**. The remaining 50% of funds will be used to procure high-quality, frozen soup, which will be directed to the local food bank .
In addition, Panera will match 10% of all funds donated by its customers. This 10% match will be directed to the Feeding America national office and support efforts to source and distribute quality food to the Feeding America network.
