The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia is participating in the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) to provide up to two meals a day for children through the age of 18 without charge. The Program aims to provide healthy meals and snacks to kids who might otherwise go without nutritious food. The summer program is especially valuable for youth who are at risk of hunger during the summer when they are not receiving breakfast or lunch at school, and may not have other resources. The Foodbank and these partnering sites hope to ensure these children won’t go without access to nutritious foods during this challenging time.
